The psychology of people who dont put their shopping carts back

you can tell everything you need to know about a person by whether they put their shopping cart back or just leave it in the parking lot like some kind of abandoned metal animal.

this is not an opinion this is science

putting your cart back is the ultimate test of human decency because literally nobody is making you do it. theres no cart police. no fine. no public shaming. its just you and your conscience and a metal basket with squeaky wheels deciding what kind of person you want to be in this world. serious.

the worst ones are the people who push their cart like 3 feet away from their car and just leave it there. not even trying to get it to the cart return thing. just nudging it toward someone elses bumper and walking away like they completed the task. sir that is not putting your cart back that is just relocating the problem.

then you have the people who see the cart return is like 50 feet away and decide thats too far.

too far for what

its a shopping cart not a piano. you just spent 40 minutes walking around a grocery store but suddenly those extra steps are where you draw the line. your legs work fine when youre reaching for the good cereal on the top shelf but cart duty is somehow too much physical labor.

i saw a guy last week load his groceries then just push his cart behind the car next to him and drive away.

that car belonged to someone

someone who now has to deal with your cart situation because you couldnt be bothered to walk 12 seconds. thats not laziness thats just being a bad neighbor to strangers.

honestly i think grocery stores should hire cart behavioral psychologists. just stand there taking notes about who does what with their carts then publish the data. let people know their cart choices are being documented for science.

whatever.
