just saw a thing about how call of duty got pulled from game pass because hackers were using it to take over people’s computers. like. literally. one second you’re getting sniped on omaha beach and the next some dude named probably like xXglockMOM420Xx is opening your command prompt and changing your desktop to something deeply weird from the internet. i’m not saying that’s not funny. i’m just saying i didn’t know that could even happen.
i know it’s dumb but still
this is exactly why i never install windows updates. i don’t trust it. you fix one thing and suddenly solitaire can open your webcam. this is how it starts. like some guy found an ancient vulnerability in an old shooter and now we’re all one missed patch away from getting ransom noted by a teenager on a vape. i don’t even play this game but i read this and immediately shut down my laptop like it was contagious. just full panic. no plan. unplugged the mouse for no reason.
final thought before i forget this ever happened
also sorry but the idea of a hacker breaking into your pc via call of duty is kinda humiliating. like if a home intruder got in because you left mario kart running. you weren’t even doing anything useful. you just got clapped by a guy whose battle plan involved hiding in matchmaking lobbies. and then he opens notepad and writes you a lil message. that’s not even hacking. that’s passive aggressive haunting.
anyway i’m off to reinstall minesweeper. that game never hurt anyone.
