theres like 17different ways people type “haha” and apparently we all decided on our version in middle school and just stuck with it forever.
some people do “haha” which is normal. some people do “hahaha” like they need to really convince you they thought it was funny. then you have the “lol” people who gave up on actual laughter sounds and went full corporate.
but the worst ones are the people who do “ahahaha” like theyre a cartoon villain or something.
what is that about
nobody laughs by starting with an A sound. thats not how human vocal cords work. you dont go “ahhhh” then transition into laughing. thats just weird mouth noises.
then theres my dad who types “lmao” for everything even when nothing is remotely funny. he’ll text me “your grandmother is in the hospital lmao” like he thinks its punctuation. i tried explaining that it means laughing my ass off but he just said “oh i thought it meant love mom and others” which somehow makes it worse.
the “hehe” people are suspicious too.
thats not laughter thats the sound cartoon mice make. nobody over the age of 12 should be hehe-ing about anything. if youre hehe-ing youre either plotting something evil or you just discovered the internet yesterday.
my favorite are the people who try to spell out their actual laugh.
like “bwahahaha” or “snort” or that one girl from college who used to type “tee hee hee” unironically. at least theyre being honest about their weird laugh instead of pretending they make normal human sounds.
honestly we should all just agree on one universal way to type laughter and move on. this linguistic chaos is probably confusing aliens who are trying to understand our communication patterns.
